The whole portfolio, not one account
Harbor charts your income, your accounts, your spending, and your drawdown order together — because you can't judge one decision without seeing the rest of the plan around it.
Harbor is a family of retirement-planning calculators. Each one charts how a single decision ripples across your whole financial life — taxes, Medicare, Social Security, your spending, and what's left for your family — so you see the real trade-off, not just this year's bracket.
Move one lever — convert an account, change when you claim, draw from a different bucket — and it ripples through your taxes, your Medicare premiums, your benefits, and what you leave behind. Harbor's calculators are built to chart that whole ripple, then give you one clear bearing.
Harbor charts your income, your accounts, your spending, and your drawdown order together — because you can't judge one decision without seeing the rest of the plan around it.
Every plan tracks the money you actually spend and the tax you actually owe as two separate ledgers, so the answer reflects the life you're funding — not just a line on a return.
Each tool ends in a plain verdict — do it, don't, or it's close — and shows how robust that answer is to the assumptions behind it.
Four in-depth tools today. We continue to build and refine.
See whether converting a pre-tax account to Roth is worth it — and how much to convert each year — once the decision's full ripple across your retirement is on the table, not just this year's tax bracket.
Open the calculator →See the age that maximizes your after-tax family value — once your taxes, your Medicare premium, your survivor's income, and the years in between are on the table, not just the gross break-even.
Open the calculator →Run your retirement plan through a thousand market histories — not a flat withdrawal-rate rule — and see the odds your money lasts, your safe spending number, and what happens in the bad years.
Open the calculator →See your effective rate, your real marginal rate — what your next dollar actually costs — and your federal and state tax on Social Security, pensions, and IRA withdrawals, for one tax year.

Why I built Harbor
I built Harbor to answer a question about my own retirement: should I convert to a Roth, how much and when? The free calculators I found stopped at a single year's tax bracket; the deeper ones were locked behind a paid account or an advisor who wanted to manage my money first. I made the tool I needed — then decided to make it free.
